Privacy built into every choice.

SYE was designed to work on your phone, not through a cloud service. That means no tracking, no analytics, and no account data stored off-device.

Overview

SYE – Save Your Eyes ("SYE", "we", "our", or "us") is built on one principle: your data stays on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising. Everything SYE does happens locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's native frameworks. Nothing is ever transmitted anywhere.

What We Do Not Collect

SYE does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, or any contact information
  • Your location data
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Usage analytics or behavioural data
  • Screen Time data or app usage statistics
  • Health or wellbeing data of any kind
  • Photos, camera, or microphone data

SYE does not integrate with any third-party analytics tools, tracking systems, crash reporters, or advertising frameworks.

Screen Time and Family Controls

SYE uses Apple's Screen Time framework (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity) to provide its core features including Quick App Blocks, Soft Interruptions, Block Scheduling, and screen time reporting. This requires you to grant Screen Time permission when you first open the app.

This permission allows SYE to:

  • Shield selected apps so they show a pause or block screen when opened
  • Monitor app usage thresholds to trigger local notifications
  • Schedule recurring timed app blocks
  • Display your screen time usage via Apple's DeviceActivity report

All of this processing happens entirely on your device using Apple's operating system. SYE never reads, stores, or transmits your Screen Time data. The data is processed by Apple's framework and never passes through any SYE server — because no SYE server exists.

Local Storage

SYE stores your preferences and settings in an App Group container on your device. This is a local storage mechanism shared between the main app and its system extensions (shield screens, notification triggers). This data includes:

  • Which apps you have assigned to Quick App Block preset slots
  • Active block timers and scheduled block configurations
  • Apps you have added to Soft Interruptions
  • Block Scheduling configurations and times
  • Notification preferences
  • Expected Phone Use mode and manual hours entry
  • Saved motivational quotes (stored locally)

None of this data ever leaves your device.

Notifications

SYE schedules local notifications on your device for the following purposes:

  • Screen Time Alert — when daily usage reaches your chosen threshold
  • Block Scheduling — one hour before, five minutes before, and when a schedule starts

These notifications are generated and delivered entirely by your device's operating system. No notification content or delivery data passes through any external server. Notifications work fully offline.

Camera Roll

In version 1.1, SYE does not save any images to your camera roll. This feature is not present in the current version.

Third-Party Services

SYE does not integrate with any third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or external APIs. The app relies solely on Apple's native frameworks and has no external dependencies.

Children's Privacy

SYE does not collect any data from users of any age, including children under 13. Because we collect no data at all, there is nothing to differentiate by age. The app is safe for use by people of all ages and does not include tracking, profiling, or data collection of any kind.

Security

Because SYE collects and transmits no personal data, there is no risk of your information being exposed through SYE. All functionality is handled securely within Apple's operating system on your device. Deleting the app permanently removes all locally stored SYE data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in features or legal requirements. Any updates will be reflected by a revised effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
