Terms of Service for SYE.
These terms explain how SYE works, what is covered, and your responsibilities as a user.
Effective Date
25 March 2026
Acceptance
By downloading or using SYE – Save Your Eyes ("SYE", "we", "our", or "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, please delete the app. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance.
What SYE Is
SYE is a personal digital wellbeing and screen time management tool for iPhone and iPad. It helps you block distracting apps, pause before opening tracked apps, schedule recurring app blocks, and understand your lifetime screen time. SYE is designed for personal, non-commercial use on your own device.
Screen Time Permission
SYE requires Screen Time (Family Controls) permission to function. This permission is granted through Apple's system prompt when you first open the app and can be revoked at any time in Settings → Screen Time. Revoking this permission will disable SYE's blocking, interruption, scheduling, and screen time reporting features. SYE is not responsible for features becoming unavailable if you revoke this permission.
Limitations of the Service
You acknowledge and understand the following limitations:
- App blocking is not absolute. SYE uses Apple's Screen Time framework to apply shields to apps. A user can bypass blocks by revoking Screen Time permission in Settings. SYE is a tool to support your intentions, not a parental control system.
- Timing accuracy. Block timers and usage threshold notifications are accurate to within approximately 1 to 5 minutes. This is a system-level limitation of Apple's DeviceActivity framework and is outside SYE's control.
- Block Scheduling accuracy. Scheduled blocks may start or end up to 5 minutes from the set time due to Apple's system scheduling behaviour.
- Screen Time data delays. The Expected Phone Use and Today's Screen Time features rely on Apple's DeviceActivity report. This data can take up to 24 hours to populate and may show blank on first install. SYE has no control over the accuracy or availability of this data.
- Reinstallation. Reinstalling the app removes all assigned app tokens and preferences. You will need to reassign apps to preset slots after reinstalling. This is a security requirement of Apple's Screen Time framework.
- Category selections in Block Scheduling. Selecting entire app categories in Block Scheduling may not reliably block all apps within that category. For best results, select individual apps.
- App token visibility. Previously selected apps cannot be displayed in the Block Schedule edit view due to Apple's privacy framework limitations. Your selections remain active even when not visible in the picker.
- Device compatibility. SYE requires iOS 16 or later. Some features may behave differently depending on iOS version and device model. Testing on Simulator is not supported for Screen Time features.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use SYE only for lawful personal purposes on your own device. You agree not to:
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app
- Use the app to circumvent Screen Time restrictions set by another person on a shared or managed device
- Misrepresent the app's functionality to others
- Use the app in any way that violates Apple's App Store guidelines or applicable law
No Warranties
SYE is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of bugs. We do not warrant that SYE will achieve any particular outcome in terms of reducing your screen time or changing your behaviour. Digital wellbeing is a personal journey and results depend entirely on your own choices and consistency.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developers of SYE are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app. This includes but is not limited to lost productivity, missed notifications, harm resulting from app blocks not functioning as expected, or any decision made based on screen time data displayed in the app.
Intellectual Property
SYE and all content within it, including design, code, written content, and feature concepts, is owned by the developer. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your personal Apple device in accordance with Apple's standard App Store terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app.
Termination
You may stop using SYE at any time by deleting the app from your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data permanently. There is no account to close and no data to request deletion of, because no data is collected.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Updated terms will be made available within the app and on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to updated terms, please delete the app.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, or where not applicable, the laws of your country of residence. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that territory.
